JSTOR - includes full text of scholarly journal articles back into early the nineteenth century.

Readers Guide Retrospective. - indexing to popular magazines, most of which are available in the bound periodicals on second floor, back to early 20th century.

The Making of America - courtesy of Cornell University. A free, online, fulltext collection of nineteenth century American monographs, magazines and periodicals.
