Sources of Information

Sources of Information

We need information to complete assignments, make decisions, and understand the world around us. Where do we get information from though? Sources!

What are sources? Sources are materials, such as books, articles, videos, websites, and more, that provide us with information. Some sources provide accurate, useful, good information, while others provide misleading, inaccurate, bad information. Today, we have more sources of information than ever before because of the internet. We also have fairly new source formats, such as blogs, podcasts, webinars, social media posts, and more that can now be sources of information.

Sources come in many different formats. You’ll need to know how to differentiate between these formats and types in order to follow assignment directions and correctly cite your sources. Word cloud with: Archival documents, Books, eBooks, Magazines, Academic journals, Newspapers, Trade magazines, Videos, Blogs, Images, Maps, Interviews, Government documents, Company profiles, Industry Reports
