Integrating Library Resources into Blackboard Learn: Naxos Music Library

Adding Naxos Music Library Links

What Is It?

Naxos Music Library is the most comprehensive collection of classical music available online offering over 1,230,000 tracks of Classical music, Jazz, World, Folk and Chinese music.

How Can I Add Links in Blackboard?

SELECTING THE CONTENT

Step 1: Go to the Naxos Music Library website and search by composer and/or musical work.

Step 2: Once you have retrieved the musical work, click on the "Show Static URL" button on the left side of the page as shown below. Highlight and copy (using CTRL-C) the URL(s) displayed.

ADDING THE LINK TO A BLACKBOARD COURSE

Step 3: Log into Blackboard, select the course, and navigate to the area where the link will be placed. You can add a link directly on the course menu or to a content folder. If you would like to add a Web Link to a folder, you need to create the folder first and then go to the folder page before adding the link.

From the build content menu, select "Web link"

Step 4: Enter a Name for the web link (e.g., Ives, The Unanswered Question). The title of a web link is what your students see. Right click on the Web Address (URL) box and select "Paste". You may use CTRL + V to paste the link. Fill in the optional fields if you'd like and press the submit button (bottom right).

Note that you will need to add the following prefix to the the URL in order for students to access the stream off-campus:

http://library.limestone.edu:2048/login?url=

Example: http://library.limestone.edu:2048/login?url=http://library.limestone.edu:2227/catalogue/item.asp?cid=NI5316

To preview the web link to make sure the address is correct, make sure "Edit Mode" is set to OFF. Click on the title of the web link you just added.
